pink blazer

DSC07283I told you all how I can’t keep a good deal to myself (here), apparently I can’t keep an amazing hand-me-down like this Marc Jacobs pink blazer from anyone either. Everyone I encounter while wearing it ends up knowing I didn’t purchase this piece myself and how awesome my boss is who gave it to me. At first, the idea of accepting a few great jackets from her made me question: do grown ups take hand-me-downs? But as I remembered how many other “non-grownup” things I get away with, I thought back to being a kid and the glee that accompanied going through a giant bag of family friends’ clothes. I realized I’ve always enjoyed new clothes whether they were “gently used” or not. The fact is I love this pink blazer; I’ve already worn it out on a date night or two.

I’ve been toying with the idea of adding a beauty section to the blog for quite some time now, and after some serious quality time with myself, my camera, and my tripod, I’m just about ready to make it a double-wammy of firsts and upload a beauty vlog! High on the list of things I’ve learned about myself in the process are my tendency to ramble about trivial things, how uneven my eyebrows really are, and the massive amount of odd noises, crazy faces, and “um’s” I produce, almost making me question how I have friends.

I can see it’s a slippery slope before I’m locking myself into a closet for all eternity to spare the world of my annoying habits. Ok, perhaps that’s a bit dramatic. Nit picking aside, every time I expand the blog to include something new, I’m reminded why I started it in the first place. It’s not about what others are doing (although I’m constantly being inspired by others and am happy for their success) it’s not about doing what’s trendy or cool at the moment, it’s about having fun and expressing the piece of myself that enjoys fashion and beauty. We focus enough on showing how intelligent and compelling and well spoken and funny and educated we are all day at work and school. Here I can choose to be silly and even vain at times, while connecting with others in the process. So with that in mind, I’m going to ignore all those things along with that obnoxiously straight piece of hair sticking out of my head for the entirety of my very first beauty video, (you’ll know exactly what I mean) it’s a more accurate portrayal of myself anyway. So hey, if the shoe stiletto fits, I might as well wear (and film) it. More to come on that soon! Happy almost 4th of July friends! xx
