layered leather

When I found this sweet little leather sweater, I envisioned myself styling it with super edgy pieces. I’m especially loving sweaters and jackets with blended fabrics right now. Leather and cotton go so well together and when combined, easily add interest to an otherwise basic layer. I thought I would be in head to toe black or track pants with this sweater, yet somehow when I threw it on this day, school girl layered leather with a pop of purple came to mind instead. That’s the beauty about style and fashion, it can take on many forms. I never feel like anything I wear makes a bold enough statement that I can’t easily transform it the next time I put it on. Not to sound like a commitment-phobe (although I’m pretty sure my 4 year long relationship debunks that notion) but I don’t want to be married to just one look or style. I live life with the belief that I can only plan so much, and if I don’t like the way things are going I always have the power and will to change it- fashion included.

It was my birthday this weekend, I turned 25! All kinds of emotions swirl around it, and I have much to say on the matter but I’m working on a birthday post chalk full of all of that, so look out for it soon 🙂 It was overall a perfect day, very low key and unplanned just as I wanted. Next weekend we are celebrating as a group when more of my friends are able to join us. I’m usually a fan of extending my birthday as long as possible, often announcing to the world on October 1st that my birthday month has arrived! (Which was not nearly as obnoxious as the bedazzled tiara I wore to school on my birthday every year throughout middle school. My friends and family were so tolerant.) However, this year it sort of snuck up on me, so I’m not complaining about celebrating two weekends in a row. I may just dust off that tiara for old times sake! No? Too much? Ok fine, but expect sequins to be present at the very least. I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend as well! xo
