cabernet crush | fall lip color

DSC09552Whether its in the form of a delicious dinner drink, or the hue of my favorite fall lip color, wine is often the answer. I was intrigued by this dress during a recent lap through Nordstrom and decided to branch out and give it a try. The reasonable price tipped it fully into the “purchase me” category, and I’m so glad I did. It can easily be styled many ways, and it inspired a manhunt for the perfect lip shade to compliment it! I really love the one I found. I’m putting the finishing touches on a makeup tutorial video with all the fun details that went into this makeup look as we speak.

In other news, for an assignment in my Women and Popular Culture class, I’ve been keeping a daily log of my conscious mediation, down to the minute. I’ve written down every bit of media I’ve consumed in the last few days; excluding billboards, magazine ads in line at the grocery store, and anything else I don’t actively participate in, because no one could realistically calculate all that on their own. HOLY MOLY I’m one heavily mediated individual. Like, it’s exhausting. I spent the first day fighting the urge to check social media/watch TV/browse the internet so I, a.) didn’t have to write it down (the epitome of laziness?) and b.) didn’t have to admit that I’m actually that addicted! While it is a highly advantageous business tool, being that I am blogger and all, seeing it in black and white is alarming. Saying I need to be constantly plugged in solely for the blog is a cop out, so I am trying to actively choose when and how much media I consume for the next week. I’ll let you know how it goes…unless it goes poorly. Then I’ll pretend we never had this little chat. (I’m only sort of kidding.)

I hope everyone had a lovely first official day of “Fall.” Clearly I’ve given in to some extent based on this outfit and makeup look. However, it was so hot today that my bare legs stuck to the leather seats of my car, so don’t expect me to run out and start drinking hot coffee anytime soon.  Just saying…
