back to basics

All three of the pieces that make up this outfit have been staples in my wardrobe for quite some time now. This dress has been to Hawaii, Italy and Greece. These boots have made a countless number of trips to the Bay and back. And this chambray shirt has lived in three different apartments. They are like family! However, today I decided to wear them all together, which was a first. I was having one of those days where I was standing in my overly full closet the day after laundry day, staring at racks and drawers full of clothes and thought to myself, “I have absolutely nothing to wear!” I was reminded of this quote I saw on Pinterest recently that fit me so perfectly, especially in that moment.

When I have episodes of writer’s “style block” like this, I first try to resist the allure of my most comfortable yoga pants, and then usually end up sticking to my go-to basics. Today I decided to throw them all together, slap on a little sparkle, twist my hair up in a bun and call it a day. I have to say, it was pretty nice having all three of my old pals accompany me all day. Happy Saturday!
