Alright my age may have a thing or two to do with this, but as a twenty-something (strong emphasis on the something) I find myself gravitating more and more toward midi length pieces. Midis were a staple over the holidays and they seem to be hanging on straight through the New Year. I recently added this, this, and this to my closet too. I can’t get enough! A while back I did a blog post about how to feel comfortable in a bodycon midi, and I still wear the dress from that post all the time!
Midi skirts and dresses are extremely flattering, comfortable, and versatile so you really can’t go wrong. I like styling them with sophisticated pieces like sweaters and mules for the office, or dressing them up with a silk cami and pumps for a night out. (I may or may not have already shot a blog post featuring this version– coming soon!) Admittedly, I have a tendency to get lazy once winter rolls around and live in some version of a pant + boot + sweater combo, but when I do decide to put in the slightest bit of effort, a midi skirt always makes me feel pulled together.
This look combines two of my all time favorite trends, leopard print and mismatched fabrics. The juxtaposition of the soft satin midi skirt with the edgy faux leather jacket is unexpected and balanced. This jacket earned it’s place in my closet *no exaggeration* 5 years ago, and it still looks brand new! Extra bonus points…it’s affordable.
Ps. I’m always playing with new editing tricks and I recently fell in love with a new family of Lightroom presets. The preset used on these photos is part of the E-Chrome set by Nate Photographic, in case you’re a Lightroom nerd like me. So many of my favorite bloggers are coming out with presets, like Moxie and Monica Hibbs. I have a feeling I’ll be hoarding all of them in the near future and my feed won’t be the least bit cohesive. That’s ok, neither is my brain. 😉
